BEWARE fake labels for denison !

    Hi guy's,
I was able to lay my hands on two fake denison labels.
One looks old, the other still in new condition, and they have the correct dimensions.
They don't look 100% like the real ones, but I guess they can convince the "starting" collector!
And there are more, I've seen one for the leather jerkins (dated 1943), and one for a canadian shirt. (Can't remember the date.)
So if one of you notice them is use, let us know please.

    Cheers,
    Marc

      Hello Marc,

Not my area of collecting, but is it possible to post a picture of an authentic label? It's always interesting and informative to observe how a counterfeit stacks up against a genuine article.

      Regards,
      Tony

9 Foot 2 Inches now that would be quite a guy also a size spread of 38 inches.

These are nice as all the info on them is bs. Not sure where "cn-ton" Is. The real Waerings was in Nuneaton. It looks as though these guys have deliberately printed nonsense on their labels to prevent people being ripped off. In these days of phsycotic attention to detail where repro's have to be perfect in every way (not really sure why If the end result Isn't to con someone), this is commendable.

          Yours, Guy.

Hi Marc, thanks for posting these. I agree with Guy, the text on these is nonsence. I hope it is by design too.

I used to know a lad who did any repro label you wanted for 50p. I don't have any to share, but his were quite well made. He no longer makes them and has dropped off the scene.

            Cheers, Ade.

Antony, I have a couple of pictures of original labels. Just drop me a PM if you'd like to see them.
I'm reluctant to post them out here in the wild.

Fake labels aren't the only thing the novice collector has to watch out for, what do we think of oversmock labels with a wartime date fitted into a post-war Denison! That has come up on the market a couple of times now.

Mint unlabeled examples with brass Neweys (45/6), Re-sewn full zip conversions with fake labels, oversmock labels in post war smocks (double bluff cos this happened sometimes but not on 46 camo) and on and on and on . Thankfully even hand paints have yet to approach the value of even the lowliest Fallschirmjager smock so as yet the profit isn't there for the fakers. When it starts to be then we will see a step up in quality. I am actually quite looking forward to seeing the first good step in. Things will get really dangerous then.

                Yours, Guy.
