Union jack flag question

Does anyone know the age of this flag and its' use? I received it for FREE from a lady at work so the truth will not hurt.
It's about 8 feet long and seems to be made of wool. The weave is a see-through type weave if that helps.

A Union JACK is normaly flown from a ship, therefore this could be a Naval Version of the Union Flag. The manufacture and material look similar to the pre-nylon Military issued flags.

Yep, I concur with that. The usage of the word 'jack' suggests a naval issued item, i.e. flown from the jack mast (at the prow) of a ship. A nice flag.
