This instantly recognizable as a Gieves product. The cut and finish work are absolutely top notch! This gentleman saw a lot of service all over the Empire!

Gary,I think the F.L are his initials not his rank as this is shown as a Wing Commander on his sleeve.

                A little research ;- Wing Commander F.L.Newall 37050 L.G> 37423 promoted temp w/c 19th Oct 1945

India General Service 1936 to 1939.

I don't know how 'official' the MID device is?

                    Hi John,

You're right! I suffered a massive brain fart as it was late(as it is now!) and just screwed up!

                    Cheers

                      Hi David,
Sorry for the delay in answering your question. No it is not an official MID device but they are a pattern associated with manufacture in India.

Hello again and sorry for the delay in answering but I missed your question the first time around . I find the uniforms all over the world (I used to travel a LOT!) and the items behind are from my shop in Carson City. I am still putting it together as I am also rehabilitating our house which was built in 1877 and had not had any work done on it in the previous 50 years before I bought it, so it is taking awhile!

                        Cheers
                        Gary
