Is it usual to have a badge like this made of cast metal? If it was the UK version it should be die-struck. Should I have seen a usual UK MGC badge like this I would say repro or at best a locally made bazaar badge. Either way not worht a lot.

Maybe it is one of those made in the PoW camp badges.

Looks to me to be a cast, made in India badge. The original may have had 3 lugs - 1 in the crown and 2 in either butt of the machin gun. Lugs wire looks like the usual gauge of wire used so I would think this is not a POW item.

We don't see that much Indian made stuff here in Canada, certainly Canadaian regiments are rarely seen in a cast construction like the badge in question.

I would ask myself - is this a rare badge? If they are available in a more typical construction and they are not expensive I would pass and wait for a nice one to show up.

If it is rare then I would pick it up as a "suspect" badge but pay no mre than say...10-15 bucks and classify it as a variation.

              Hi guys
              <O</O
Thanks for your opinions, the front of the badge shows age wear due to areas which have been polished smooth, looks as if this has been done over a period of time and not artificially. There is also residue of polish on the rear of the badge, the rear pins seem to match other British badges that I have in my collection.

Dose any one have a fake I can compare this to?

              Many thanks
