    Uniform buttons

    Found an old tin,which belonged to my father, containing brass buttons with 'Royal Indian Army Service Corps' and makers mark, Firmin. London. As a TR dagger collector the only thing I know is that they must be older than 1948? Any other information on them would be appreciated.

    Hi Ian, not a huge amount to tell you to be honest. The British Army in India had units within the British led Indian Army that mirrored those of the parent nation. You are correct about them being pre Independance. The maker was a very well known and good quality manufacturer of buttons and badges. The RIASC did the same kind of supply work as the RASC. It was a large branch of service.
