    SAS Belgium

I was watching the history channel last night and it was all about the Belgium French and normal SAS serving behind the lines in France after and before DDay .Anyway they showed some SAS men jumping into France from a plane and one of them had a white backwards swastika painted on the front of his helmet .Anyone know the meaning of this ? Rob.

But surely not painted in bright white paint on the front of your helmet . Try explaining that away to some twitchy French resistance member . It was a good show well worth watching if its repeated .Rob.

Well, SAS men were always a bit crazy, with all due respect.

Des,It was pretty good loads of shots of belgium and French SAS behind the lines and interviews with Reg seekings and other SAS members ,I suspect they used some stock footage ,but the scene where they are jumping out of the aircraft through a hole in the floor was definitely SOE SAS covert type jumping and he surely did have a backwards swas on his helmet ,check out the history channel they are sure to repeat it ,Rob.

              This must have been it.

              Great SAS Missions

Using interviews, computer graphics and reconstructions to recount the World War Two SAS mission to infiltrate enemy borders. Heavily armoured cars managed to destroy a number of Hitler's supply lines, and by the time the fighting in North Africa had ended the unit had grown into two full regiments

                    I think ..

                    Robb,
I think you might find that this piece of film was a composite period piece, and that section shown was more than likely taken at Ringway/Tatton Park, during the filming of some "homefront" type propaganda newsreels.
