Is This My Best Buy Ever ??

Well folks ......i suspect we have all done it , planned to go to an arms /antique fair spent the whole week getting `giddy` with anticipation and groveling to the wife for abandoning her again on a week end ,you rise at the crack of dawn ,usually with a hangover despite promising yourself you would have an early night, as you leave the house offering promises of finishing the painting in the back bedroom with her scolding comments of
" i work as well too , i never get a day off ,there your kids as well !!

( dont worry Jack Dutton ...you have got it all to come ...)

so you travel half way across the country get to the fair ,spend hours hunting round and dont find a bloody thing of real interest ,how many of you have bought something ( kidding yourself you really do like it ) just to justify your day out ????
Gentle men i give you my latest fantastic buy ......a metal box

The thing is, if that was me I would have rolled in roaring drunk and slurred out:

"Here you are darling I bought you a present!"

I realise that we are having a laugh and joke about this item but I`d have it in my collection. Camel Corps items of any period are desirable.

Anyone know what KDDG stands for? I think its the owners initials.

The British unit which operated in Palestine during WW1 was named the Imperial Camel Corps........the term Camel Corps was used during the Egypt Campaign in the 1880's but that sticker on the side for Palestine throws me off. I wonder if it has something to do with one of the native camel units?

Perhaps this trunk had several owners. If I had this trunk I'd clean it with a damp cloth and some soap making sure I didnt damage the labels and use it store other items of my collection.

                          Steve.

Hello lee ,Rob , Yellow , i think you are right , i suppose any old item with a name is nice and its a nice air tight box for for keeping the moths out .
i will have a good look at it and try to find out who the guy was ,have done a bit of reading today and the Camel Corps was a far better unit than i first imagined .
                            thanks for your help ,Michael.

Any army list between 1916 - 1918 should help.....get those initials matched up.

                              Steve.
