    Original 2 C I D patches?

    Hi !
Can anyone help me out with these two matching patches from the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division. I can buy the patches for $ 38, but I don't know if they're original WWII or not.... cause they're a lot of fake 2 CID's arounds,

Hope someone on this board can identify these !!!

    Bjorn,

This is something I would like to have in my hands...but from the photo I don't get a good feeling. I may be way off but it seems to me that these are not difficult to find, and that your price is a bit steep for a common badge set which Canadian dealers have stacks of at most shows.

    Cheers,

    Adam

Hi Bjorn, welcome to the forum

The patches look very "blue" to me? I would pass on these I think.

      Cheers, Ade.

        Hi Bjorn,
Good to have you around here!

I agree with the above comments.
An item like this is easily "faked" so it is best to have it in your hands. And remember: when it looks new, it probably is.

          Hi Adam,

Well, perhaps these patches are not hard to find over there in Canada, but, unfortenately, they are ,,rare'' in Holland...

But I'll pass on these I think...

Does anybody has an original pair for sale? And what's a fair price for a nice matching pair???

Bjorn, when you're on the internet it's irrelevant that these are rare in Holland: it is a world wide webshop!

              Hi Luc,

Well, I've never seen 2 C I D patches for sale on the Internet before, and also not on militaria fairs !!! Not even on eBay.

                Hi Bjorn,
It is my experience that EVERYTHING to matter how rare will eventually be for sale.

                Just be patient!
                Cheers, Luc

                  Hoi Bjorn

                  Hoe gaat het?

I am not really a cloth collector at all, but I know of a couple Canadian dealers that carry quite a bit. However, when I tried to get on the websites I had in mind, they don't seem to be working anymore.

I will try to track them down and get back to you. I have a feeling we can find you some nice originals, for somewhat less.

Will let you know if I have any luck.

                  Dag ik zie je later

                  Adam

                    Bjorn,
                    You can try:
                    Michel Perrier
                    Cheers, Luc

Try Michel Perrier as Luc suggests. Those flashes are not that hard to find and are not that expensive either!

Well, these patches are actually from Michel Perrier ! ,,Bjorn, attached with this message are photos of the
matching 2nd CID which are of course W.W.2 orginal'' - is what he says.
Saw the patches on his website...

Oh ok, well you didn't say where they from to start with. His stuff is usually good but the price still seems a bit steep.

I wouldn't bother with these. I don't like the colour, they are too light to be 2nd Div and too dark to be 3rd Div (I have several 3rd Div BDs with light blue patches rather than the light grey). It is virtually impossible to tell if these are real, but my gut feeling is that they are not. If you want a cheap filler, go to your local sewing supply store and buy some blue felt and cut them into 2 x 3" squares and voila...
