Please excuse me for tumbling into your forum, but any help to identify the depicted sidecap would be much appreciated indeed
since I have searched any available source to clarify what it is for the last two years.
Any hints ?

Whilst it's certainly of a British 'style', this could be anything. It might even be some obscure colonial police cap - or even post-colonial: many commonwealth and British-styled organisations using uniform items either left over, or supplied by British manufacturers.
