British and french uniform patches?

Hi,

Could I get some help with these patches. I think that one of them is british and the other french. But beside that I dont know anything about them.
Anybody who could help me out? Thanks !

The one on the right is the second pattern badge of Northern Command (UK), it replaced the earlier design of a green apple on a blue lozenge in 1947.

I've got a US pot with that same crescent moon design painted on the front of it. It represents a Free French officer training corps.

The crescent of french insignia usually indicates a north african unit. I'd guess this one is for the 4th African Chasseurs but I'm probably wrong. French isignia isn't my forte.

Hi Garth,

You could very well be right. My helmet has a straight line under the crescent.

The guys on the American Militaria forum told me it was for a Free French Officer Training on Armour......which fits with your French cavalry suggestion.
