RAF Type 18 Microphones—do they exist?

    Hi all,

Grandpa was stationed in Wormingford during the war as a P-51 mechanic-"Miss Velma". Therefore his love of aviation and particularly the P-51 and Spitfire was passed along to me.
I’ve been searching for a Type 18 microphone or 19 assembly off and on since the late 1990’s without success. I saw one make it to the end on eBay last year but was blocked from bidding (UK only). Originality is more important than condition for me. If there is a piece of plaxolin that's been reproduced-that's fine, or if the chamois damaged that's fine. I just don't want a reproduction at present. Being able to be the caretaker of a piece of memorabilia that makes the connection to our history is what drives me I guess.

If you’re aware of anything out there-or that might be coming available I would be most appreciative. I live in Alaska which is remote enough, and also know that some of the rarer items are traded and deals made out of public sight—hence my post. Send me a quick message if you might be able to lend a hand.

Pics below were of the set which sold in early 2019

    Have you tried contacting:

    https://www.historicflyingclothing.com/
    http://www.bombphoons.com/
    http://airministrymilitaria.com/

They are all U.K. based dealers and seem very good and getting rare and unusual items (although some of the prices are a bit high for my liking)

Sorry for the late reply-but thanks yes...I’ve been interfacing with the shops noted above as well as many more and am still searching.
