CEF 10th Company 4th Machine Gun Battalion

Playing around with my Fuji today, perfect day for photos outside so I took some new photos of the CEF 4th Machine Gun battalion tunic, Brodie, and M1917 cap. This is not a grouping from one man unfortunately, just items collected over the years.

Here is the link to the tunic if anyone is interested.

Can you post pictures of the damage? It sounds interesting. Didnt the War Museum inOttawa have two MG gunners in their trench, with the same insignia on their helmet?

Good Lord Roy you are so predictable. I posted this to lure you out and you responded in only 65 minutes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my oldest and very best friend (civi). Below is Roy and I on a Leopard C1 Tank for a tour of the Sarcee training area in Calgary Alberta in 1996 just before CFB Clagary closed.

The last time a Main battle Tank will ever be heard rumbling across the hills in Calgary, and it was Roy and I.

Have a great birthday old friend.

Happy birthday Roy! I think you ought to treat your self to a nice piece of CEF or TR militaria -- or maybe that main battle tank? -Lee

Jean-Loup, I cannot recall what tunics were on display in Ottawa. I wonder if they made a similar trench in the new museum?

Probably not, could be too scary!

But here is the damage I mentioned. The rest of the tunic is perfect, only here was it ripped up and darned. Personally, unlike post-war moth damage, I do not mind at all period damage and repairs like this as it tells the true story of the tunic. My 50th has similar damage on the front pockets where he snagged something.

I also find period damage very interesting. That trench display in Ottawa was exelent, and inspired me to make a similar one. I dare hope they made an even nicer and bigger one in the new museum. I will have to get to it one of these days.

Some very nice items, thank you for posting.

I will have to visit the museum in Ottawa next summer.
