This is the only gallantry group in my collection. 444058 L Cpl. John Duffy MM - Royal Engineers (Mentioned in Dispatches). He was my (paternal) grandmother's brother (my great uncle) and won the Military Medal whilst serving in the East Lancashire Division signals section of the Royal Engineers in France. He was a lineman - repairing broken telephone wires - no doubt often under heavy fire. He and his brother - another sapper - both survived the war. They served in the Territorial Force before 1914.

Terminology
It's interesting the way that different spheres of collectors use different terminology. A 'bar' in British medal circles denotes the second award of a gallantry decoration, and is sometimes used (erroneously) to describe a clasp. What you see above is called a 'group' - which the Third Reich bunch use to describe attributable documentation & photographs (associated ephemera).
Oddly enough, the word 'bar' is used when describing a row of ribbons - without medals. Just like Uncle Ricky does. Us British collectors still use ribbons & suspenders though... again, just like that Lundstrom feller. (Although we don't actually wear them!)

Language is funny, innit? Oddly enough, Murcan terms follow more the German, with "Spange," than that of our home islands cousins. Technically, to be grammatically correct, we should even say "medals bar" and "ribbons bar," yet there is something, je ne sais quoi, which trippeth thus not lightly from an English speaking tongue. (Rather like the thuddingly discordant "Homeland Security" thingum we have going on currently over here. No English speaker says "Homeland"--that's something that only sounds right in German or Russian. Every time I hear that, the hairs on my nape stand up like when fingernails are being drawn down a blackboard...). But I digress. As often happens. --
Do you have his MM citation text to share with us, please?
