Cloth badge ID request

These two pieces came in a lot I recently bought from a US dealer. I think I've seen the owl before but can't place it. The other badge as a paper tag on the reverse that says "Commando India". Any help appreciated.

The owl looks similar to the insignia of the South African Intelligence Corps (but then owls tend to look alike I suppose).
