Very nice Service Dress Tunics you have there. Do you have an history on the one in post 2,
Im afraid I only have 2 or 3 low ranking Officers SD's.

      Best regards

Hi Charles, I will contribute to this thread but it will be after Beltring now. I have some photos but nothing which really shows any detail. I have a few SD jackets, several named, to lower ranking officers, but none to anyone that is famous.

          RA Airborne Capt.
          Recce Corps Capt
          RE Major (named)
          RAOC Major (named)
          Scottish pattern SD Lt (named)

          Cheers, Ade.

Here is my latest SD. Belonged to Colonel Denver J (Spout) Fountaine DSO, MC, ED*. Earned his MC during operation “Crusader “ 1941 and his DSO March 1943. He was CO of the 20th Battalion for a short time in 1942 before going on to command the 26th battalion from 1942-1944. He ended up his war time service with the NZEF, as CO NZ Advanced base in Italy. He was discharged in Sept 1945 but put back on the active list in 1946 to take part in the Victory Contingent that sailed to the UK in April that year. After being put on the retired list in 1951 he was made Honorary Colonel of the Nelson, Marlborough & West Coast Regiment (that’s why the SD has staybright buttons, he changed them)a position he held for 8 years. He died in Westport, NZ November 1993.
One cool bit of his war time story is that while a Captain in Crete and CO of C company 20 batt, one of his 2nd Lieutenants was Charles Upham soon to be VC & bar.

Lovely tunics guys, keep them pictures coming up please! Good to see you have the history on so many of them!

Excuse me if I'm going slightly off topic, but how can you date a Sam Browne belt if no date is showing? Has the design changed at some point?
              Cheers, Luc

Hi Luc, the problem with Sam Brown belts is the vast majority are not dated. The design did not change much either.

I only have one in my collection, which belonged to a Major who was a neighbour of mine. It has a London makers name and address on it but no date. I will do a thread about him sometime

                Cheers, Ade.

                  Hi Ade,
Thanks for the info, I'll try and get a nice undated one then!
And I'm pretty sure postwar Belgium and Dutch are identical too.
                  Cheers, Luc
