    Research Possible MC Award

    Hello,
Does anyone have any information on the following individual:
    Dudley Shannon David Seaforth Mackenzie
He was apparently awarded a Military Cross during World War Two.
I checked the London Gazette, but it is a fairly common surname and didn't find a match. He immigrated to Canada after the war.
Is there a way to get a medal card for WWII service?
    Thanks!

Hi, sadly medal index cards for WW2 service are not yet available. I suspect it will be many years yet before they will be?

    Cheers, Ade.

Check the Army Lists for WWII, although he could be a WO rather than an officer.

Unfortunately I don't have any Army Lists, not being able to afford officer type stuff.

Any idea what his regiment was? Most regiments have a list of there MC's winners.

            MC Award

The group is court mounted for wear by Spinks and includes the MC, 39/45 Star, Africa Star, France/Germany Star, War Medal, Coronation ERII, French Legion of Honour and Croix de Guerre 39/40 with palm.

The MC is undated and was sold as a tailor's copy. I thought that perhaps the presence of the 39/40 French award and the undated MC might indicate an award for Dunkirk. The medals came with some papers to the Seaforth Mackenzie family, including a certificate of Canadian citizenship indicating immigration to Canada in 1948.

It is too bad that British record cards are off limits. Canadian records are easier to get hold of.

A long shot - would Spinks have a record of the transaction? (They are still around are'nt they?)

                MC Award

Does anyone out there have the relevant nominal rolls for MC awards... or are they unpublished as a group?
