    The Royal Canadian Dragoons

    Hello,

Has been a long time ago that I've been on the board again. But now I have some serious questions about the 1st armoured car regiment (canadian) The Royal Canadian Dragoons.

Since I've found out that they liberated my town, my interested in this regiment grows with the day. Now my question (s):

    - How did the insignia set-up on the battle dress looked like?
    - Does anyone have some photo's of the RCD (1944/1945, I prefer April 1945)
    - Does anyone have some items of the RCD?

I hope you guy's can help me out!

Here, I think the sleeve set-up on the BD looked like this, but I can be wrong!!

Here are some pictures of the items I'm still looking for (If anyone has them, I'll pay well )

    Hello,

I think that I have an RCD battle dress in my collection, I will try to remember to have a look and snap a photo for you.

    Cheers,

    Gary

I have a set of unissued shoulder titles like the one in your first photo that are available if you are interested. I've sent you a PM.

An acquaintance of mine sent the link to this site, specifically to your question, in hopes that I may be of some help. So with that I joined this forum. I am currently serving as a member of The Royal Canadian Dragoons, and of course my main collecting interests deal with the RCD. I am known in some of our regimental circles as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on things RCDish. Although I currently live in NB, Canada, I have some distance access to our Museum & Archives, plus my own notes, files and archiveal material. One of our Days of Celebration in 15 April, Leeuwarden Day. Is this the town you speak of in your initial e-mail as "they liberated my town". The full title "Royal Canadian Dragoons" on your "sleeve set-up on the BD" image was not worn during WW2. This one is in fact a post WW2 title worn on the BD. During the war years at various times, the regiment wore the 5th Div, 1st Corps with and without RCD and the abbreviated RCD coloured title. I have also seen some pictures with what looks like the 1st Div patch. I have some pictures of the RCD in Leeuwarden if this is what you are after.

            Cheers

            Thomas
