HIYA C.C.J , the colour of the pegasus design on the woven ( not printed ) badges can differ from very light `off white` right up to deep blue, i dont think this fact represents any thing such as unit / or rank , i feel its just a manufactures variation .
over the years there has been talk regarding the off white ( oatmeal) colour that it was a poor batch ,weak dyes ,fault in the manufacture ?

some of the more experienced cloth guys may have an opinion but i just think its one of those `things` a manufactures variation , will show a photo in a bit ,Michael.

Who has an item that was worn by an airborne person during Normandy or Arnhem?
I know Guy has a beret but what about the rest of you?

I agree Michael. There are plenty of variations with the embroidered pegasus patches.

This Beret was worn by a guy who was an SAS section leader in Operation Trueform, August 1944. They were dropped behind German lines to the east of the Falaise pocket to gather intelligence and harass German troops trying to cross the river seine. He also did another drop into occupied Belgium a few months later. This is definitely one of my favourite items.

That beret has a good bit of history. I assume the original owner survived the war? I hope!

                Great beret Des

This is one of my favourites...a lot of badges to a Private J. Lewis of the Army Catering Corps. He was attached to 'A' Company, 1st Battalion, Border Regiment (1st Airborne Division) and served through Africa, Italy and was taken prisoner at Arnhem. These are his badges - an early 31st Ind Inf Brigade formation sign (painted), a printed Pegasus patch, and his glider troops qualification badge backed in green (for 'A' company). Unfortunately, he's not mentioned in When Dragons Flew.

                    Hi Charles,

Jack was just joking with myself and Guy there Originally badged Airborne BD Jackets are extremely difficult to find I can probably count on both hands the amount of originally badged BDs I saw at the big Beltring show in England last year and I am not even talking Airborne, just any type of originally badged BD! Seriously they are tough to get and for someone with no scruples and a bit of knowledge they are quite easy to fake . I am very fortunate to have a few in my collection. It might be best to start a new thread for BDs. Several others here have nice BDs to show off so it could be an interesting thread.

Here's another cool looking one -- it's been completely trimmed down and it's still on a piece of BD.
