    S. Africa Camp. KIA Isandlwana.

My knowledge and main collecting / dealing interests are in the field of US medals however whenever I can pick up a nice UK piece from a trusted source I certainly do. I grew up watching Michael Caine in ZULU and the British stand at Rorkes Drift is legendary. I may never own a Rorkes Drift medal but this one is as close enough for me. Can anyone recommend a really good book on Isandlwana and the subsequent battle at Rorkes Drift?
British South Africa Campaign medal with 1877-78-79 bar officially named to Private William Johnstone #1025 Killed In Action Jan. 22, 1879 at Pte. W. Johnstone was serving with Company G, 2nd Bn, 24th Regiment when he was KIA in the famed Battle at Isandlwana preceeding Rorkes Drift.Isandlwana. This medal last changed hands a few years ago through Spinks Auction House.

The Washing Of The Spears. There are some other good books about the battles (notibly Osprey ones) and Donald Featherstone years ago did a 3 volume set which was a reprint of the ILN reports. But "Washing"... is by far the best. It's literature.
