How many of you collect British fighting knives?

    Hi Guy's,
Just wanted to find out how many of you collect British fighting knives?
I collect WW2 Fairbairn Sykes/Commando Fighting Knives 1941-1945. Let me know if that's your bag and post some pictures of what knives you have. I know that a few of you pick up FS knives as a bit of a side line but I wanted to know if there are any that collect them as there main interest.
I just want to make sure I'm not on my own .
    Regards
    Irv

    Hi Irv,

I just have one in my collection as the S.A.S. did not really use them (they were largely issued with US M3 daggers). My example is a bog standard 3rd pattern with B2 broad arrow markings. Photo below.

p.s Did you know forum member Greg K is a good friend of Alan Locken?

      Hi Des,

That looks like a nice earlly 3rd Pattern. I'm sure I have seen SAS soldiers with FS knives. I can remember a nice shot of a sand painted jeep with one of the guy's in the front having a 1st Patt on his belt. Is Greg an FS collector? When I get organised I'll post some shot of the knives I have. Have you a close shot of the /I\ B2 on your knife?
      Regards
      Irv

        Hi Irv,

Sorry, I should re-phrase my comments. The S.A.S. in North West Europe did not really use F-S knives and I collect Belgian S.A.S. items. The Belgian unit only operated in N.W. Europe and they mostly used US M3 daggers hence me only having one F-S Knife in my collection. Greg K collects both German and Allied stuff but specializes in Free Polish items.

I will try and post a close up of the dagger + markings later on.

        Thanks for the reply

            Hi,

I don't collect these per se but I have had a couple of nice examples over the years. I have seen some excellent ones in a friends' collection. He had (and still has) some amazing bits. I think that my favorite piece that he ever had (and sold unfortunately) was a 3rd pattern with the C broad arrow mark on it. It was spectacular and I wish it were mine .

I do know Alan Locken as Des mentioned. For those of you that don't know who he is he wrote an excellent book on the FS knife several years ago. It's out of print now but it can still be found from time to time and is well worth the read.

            Cheers,
            Greg

              Thanks Greg and Merdock,

It's nice to know I'm not along. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. I'd love to see some picture of your friends knives Merdock. Good knives are getting harder to find. And even more expensive when you do find them.

                Hi Irv,

I don't collect FS knives either but I have one plain 2nd pattern stamped B2 and England. I'll try and post a picture of it tomorrow.
I have 313 pictures on disk of various models, send me a PM if you are after something specific.
                Regards, Luc

                  Hi Luc,

I would like to see the FS knives of the other guy's on the forum. Any close up pictures of the /I\B2 mark would be of interest too.

Here's mine, the guy who applied it obviously had too much coffee to drink as you can only see part of the "B":

They both look like good B2's.

A picture of some of my knives.
