    Royal Artillery Museum

As a starter you could contact the Royal Artillery Museum for advice, but as ever, the primary source will be the MOD records office which unless your a direct relative most probably will give a negative response.

So there no way to reserach what his frist name was, awards date of entry of service, and date of exit?

Hi Will, here in Britian it is almost impossible to find out any history, unless like Gary has already pointed out, you are next of kin. Another problem is that you have very little to go on. The only point in it's favour is that the item is pre war. Because of this there might be a chance that there will be some records of this Officer held by the RA Museum.

I hope that you can find out some info, so keep us posted with anything you discover.

        Cheers, Ade.

Having a blank here - what about the lists of officers, commissions, promotions etc that were published every year? Can't remember what the things were called. He will be listed there, from the date of commissioning, through promotions to end of service, year by year.

Hi Leigh, you are thinking of the Army List The main problem Will has is the lack of an initial. But Rudd is not that common a name and he might get lucky.
