Hi Guys, as many of you know I also re-enact WW2 Soviet Red Army as well as collecting and re-enacting WW2 British Airborne.
As I am the only British kit collector within our Soviet group, several members have given me their surplus Brit kit which they have picked up over the years.
This past weekend saw a bumper haul of stuff.
One of our members was working at a property when the owners brought out some "junk" to throw away. Colin asked if he could please take it for me? They were very happy to do this. As a result I have gained a nice little group of items to one man:
REME Officers service dress cap
REME Officers Malay pattern cap still in it's cardboard box.
Officers private purchase rain coat with separate wool liner
Officers mapboard
Wash bowl and cooking stove.
This Officer served in the Far East in the late 1940's and 1950's.
Another member of our group, Nigel, also brought me a mint heliograph leather case, a brass Lee Enfield oil bottle and a really nice MkI cruiform spike bayonet which had been ground dug from a farm in the South West of England. I guess it had been lost during the war as the area was used for troop training.
Needless to say I saw that both guys did not go thirsty
Cheers, Ade.
