pictorial map -1st Assault Brigade R.E.-

    Hello,

I acquired this map several years ago, because I like the special vehicles of the 79th Armoured division very much.
I cannot read the signatures of the cursive style at all though I know "1232" to be a serial number of the brigade headquarters.
Is there any name of the officer who can identify assignment in these signatures?

    Best regards,
    Haruki

I have one of these (I like yours better though). Its almost the same except mine is just for the 79th AD and its colour. The design element is exactly the same, the badges round the side and the tanks on the terrain. Wish mine was signed like yours mate!.

If I get rid of it Ill let you know if you want, so you can put them together.

P.S sorry I cant read the signitures either and Im English!.

            Good Luck
            Dan

              Hi Dan,
I want to see your coloured version if an opportunity offers.
Regarding my map, Is there any chance of a signature of right side of "1232" is P.S.B. Sydenham (brigade commander in 1945)?
Could it be that the right side of "Sydenham" is Percy C.S. Hobart ???

              Regards,
              Haruki

Hi Haruki, that is a great item. Sorry but I cannot read the signatures either

I have a "history" of the 79th Armoured Div in my collection done in cartoon style which I suspect might have been done by the same person who designed your map?

                Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade, I think so, though I had only seen the colour map of that book in the picture of an online bookstore.

By the way, I got the "DEFENCE OVERPRINT" map of Le Havre together with the pictorial map.
I often see the similar maps on the Web. I wonder how many pieces per area were printed?

                  Regards,
                  Haruki

Hi Haruki, I am not certain as maps are not really my thing, but perhaps the map will have a "print run number" which can be found at the bottom corner?

Here is my book. If you would like to see some of the pages, I would be happy to add them to this thread?

                    Cheers, Ade.

Please post the pics, I quite want to see them!

I had seen such 3-digit copy number in the "MOST SECRET" maps of the Dieppe raid, but I couldn't find it in my map. I thought that I would like to find the overprinted maps for Operation Market Garden if such maps are not so rare.

                      Regards,
                      Haruki

The one above the word "Germany" looks like "? ? ? Ronalds" and the one below perhaps "J.O. Mardy"?
