This was allegedly awarded to Gunner 175500 W. Bevis (WWI pair named to those details, MIC shows Royal Garrison Artillery.
I bought the 3 medals, taking a chance as I've always found the dealer to be reliable, & have had a number of WWI trios which he has obtained from the same source - another collector.
My first question is is the construction of the medal appropriate for WWI?
I belive that it was in use through 1870 - late part of this century, perhaps still in use?
The scecond question is does anyone have any pointers on how to try to research the ward of this medal to Gnr Bevis, assuming of course that it was in fact awarded to him.
I've checked the MIC & there's nothing there of relevance, I've struggled through the London Gazette on line with my usual zero success rate.
Other sources to check might be his soldiers records if still in existance, try & work out his home town, check newspapers, but is there a quicker or more simple way that may yield a result?
