Women's Loyal Service Badge/King's Badge

Hello,
Yesterday I picked up one of these badges,the second world war variety, presumably awarded to a woman as it has a pinback fitting.

The box is also different,as it is a greeny/blue colour instead of white.

Am I correct in assuming this was awarded to a woman?
Is it unusual to have a different coloured box?
Is it rare?

Any info anyone could give me on this badge and box will be gratefully accepted!

I gather these were issued in much the same capacity as the Silver War Badge of 1914-18: i.e. discharged service personnel.
