FS Fighting knife ?

Any thoughts on this it has a 1 and a worn war department arrow at the bottom of the fancy hilt.No other markings are visible ,Any thoughts on wether its a ww2 item or later would be appreciated .Rob.

Definitely WW2 by the looks and sounds of it. That type of grip is a less common variant so well done if you bought it .

It's a varient of the third pattern F-S fighting knife. It's the beaded and ribbed style and a nice looking one at that! The "1" at the base of the grip, above the crossguard, is the government inspectors mark.
