    Mark III Flare gun

Here is a flare gun i recently picked up. The fellow got this at a yard sale eons ago. It is a British or Canadian Mark III 25 mm model.

There is no manufacturing mark, but there are numbers on top of the barrel. Can anyone tell me what they are? Serial numbers, or unit numbers for record keeping purposes?

I believe this is the broad arrow inspection mark.

Hi, it is Canadian. The design is new to me, I've seen British Webley and Scott flare guns from WWI and WWII but this is entirely different. I have the impression it dates well from before WWII. Sorry I can't be of more help.

                Hi Steve,

Yes you could be right about that. I could look up the stampings if you like, but I'd need some good close ups. You can send them to L_Being@gmx.net
The number 8 is funny, it is all over my Lee Enfield rifle too.
                Regards, Luc
