If it was sold to the US market after the war [ie: 1945-1960] it will probably have 'US' or 'USA' stamped on it somewhere. Other than that, exactly what model and mark and when made is a question of looking for armoury marks on the hilt and blade and how exactly;y the pommel nut is made.

Try this site to see if yours has any of the markings described. https://www.fairbairnsykesfightingkn...on-stamps.html

Sorry but war time F-S knives imported to the US and sold after the war were
stamped "England". Denoting the country of origin. Other possible marks would
be the British acceptance stamp " /l\ " and sometimes an inspection number.

One of the more commonly encountered inspection marks is "B2"
          However many knives are unmarked.

Thanks Greg. This what happens when I rely on my memory and don't check.
