What on earth is this one all about ?

I guess it's a dedicated 'lot' to resupply mounted and horse drawn sorts.......I think ? In the days of a big British army so long ago.

I am not sure about the Recce Corps example posted here. Good examples always have a slider in my experience. The alloy also looks to be a mix used in repros.......I can show you an SAS badge exactly the same. Just a thought.

The remounts were a branch of the Army Service Corps who supplied horses for various units. Their medals are prefixed with the letter "R".

The Australians had their own remount units......known as the Rough Riders.

Cheers Steve please post away, any help, idea's or reference for me on these is helpful And just because some came from my Dad dosen't make them right, at all. So please give me your expertise on these guy's.

Just in case you're all wondereding why I'm getting these out now, it's becuse I'm slacking off the German side of things and want to gain a few bits of my own heritage.

I wouldn't mind getting back into collecting these again, they're cheaper for one and the history behind them......well you know

This is an often copied badge and I this one looks like the majority of those I've seen with the thin horse. Attached is my one where as you can see the w/m horse overlay sits very proud and it a lot bigger generally. I'm open to opinion as to whether others think this one is OK. I'll follow up with another pattern remounts.

Bloody hell this Brit lark is worse than I ever envsiaged !!! They fake it all, blimey this is one from Dads lot ....looks like I'll have to post a few more then. How come you guys don't post the fakes like with the TR stuff ???

Here's another, I think this is Welsh Horse ? I can't think of another name...another yet of my Dads collection given to me. Don't be put off by this, the times when in Germany actual vets tried to sell me common fakes that even I know !!!!!!!! Countless to this day, that they say they were awarded !

Never mind eh. Be honest and tell me what you think please, it's all an education

To me the Welsh Horse looks okay.

It's just a bugger trying to tell from photos.
The first pattern remount was knocking around in some numbersabout 15 years or so ago, excellent quality restrikes presumably by Gaunt.
