      Hi
This is the LRDG cap badge. I believe in use 1940/45. I have always assumed this badge to be a copy as original I believe are very rare. Hope it is of some help.
Maybe someone will have an original to post. I would like to see that.
      Regards
      Andy

          Hi Guys,

I posted this too soon. I have since found some other threads and some great web sites.

What a fasicinating group of guys. The desert war has always been interesting to me.

          Thanks for posting.

Hi Jim, glad you have found the info you were looking for.

Hi Andy, the badge is indeed a fake. I have one too, bought as fake for £1.50. I blackened mine for use in living history events.

I can post up some repro shoulder title "slip-on's" done in red and black if anyone is interested? Sadly I have no original items from this unit to share. I wish I had

            Cheers, Ade.

LRDG cap badge made in Gold! It is crudely sand cast and looks old. Who knows if it is real or not? Impossible to tell IMO?

                  Very interesting pieces.

Jack, your example is very nice. Makes you wonder how many were privately made for the soldiers??

If anyone is interested in parting with a nice repro, please let me know.

                  Thanks,
                  Jim

Nice wing Jack but I dont think its early war. Original photos of SAS troops in N.Africa show a distinctly different style of wing in wear. Examples which are more flat and chunkier in appearance. Do you know of a photo with an LRDG man wearing one similiar to yours?

Did you see the LRDG Chevy they found in the Libyan Desert in 1984?
