I've got this cap today from an old man and he told me that this must be a Brigade Piron cap. Is he correct and is this a rare cap..?

It's a British issue wartime dated General Service Cap, the badge is is the one worn by many Belgian units during the war, so it was worn by the Piron Bde but also by other Belgian units, including those formed after the liberation of Belgium in 1944.

        Hi Luc,

The info provided by Leigh is correct. Its not specific to Brigade Piron. I have one of these in my collection that I bought for 40 euro on ebay 2 months ago. If you want to sell yours let me know

          Really nice hat there mate!

I have a few photos with personel who are wearing this GS cap, cap badge and Battle Dress, they are guarding a POW camp in ?Grayouche? 1945-1947. For some reason I always thought they were civilians in uniform employed by the Belgians for guarding POWs. Has anybody any info on the Belgian units that would have guarded the POW or PWTE (prisoner of war temporary enclosures).

How are you leigh keeping well mate?.

          Cheers
          Dan
