Volunteer Officers Blue Cloth Helmet - 4th Devonshire Volunteer Rifles

Here is a volunteer officers blue cloth helmet I have owned for about two years.

What attracted me to this example is the condition......its very good considering I date this helmet around the 1890 period. Volunteer blue cloths first started to be worn in the 1860's. Previously I have owned volunteer blue cloths but they were to other ranks with a white metal badge and not solid silver like the one illustrated here.

As much as I would like volunteer helmets to be cheap...........I had to let the cheque book fly for 550 Brit.

That's a real beauty, Steve. Don't often see these in such nice shape and unmessed with. Great find and thanks for sharing with us.

One day I hope to find a white GS helmet to the Royal Scots of Canada...one day.......

    Cheers,

    Adam
