Just got done reading this memoir book of Erwin Bartmann, member of the 1st SS LAH.

Great book and a great insight into the day and life of a waffen SS soldier on the eastern front.

I have also read it recently and I liked that there was some insight on daily life of soldier on a front and as well back home (e.g. men-woman relationships).
The plus is that there is no apologetic BS - in contrast to Werner Kindler Obedient Unto Death.

It's a great memoir and comes across as more candid than most others. There are so many books on the LAH and overall it seems like the LAH is the best studied unit in english language WW2 literature..
