Interesting, but I doubt it will be better than original, one of the best war movies in my opinion.

Tom Hanks is going to make a movie about US convoy escort destroyer during battle of Atlantic. Might be interesting.

With so many other great stories of ww2 yet to be told it seems silly to try and remake a movie that was one of the greatest of all time.
      Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Thought they learned their lesson from the remake of "Die Brücke" - well, obviously not

I was in Prague late last year and passed by a bunch of film crew caravans with 'Das Boot' printed signs on them, this must have been this series being done.

Got to say this film absolutely does not need to be remade.

What a stupid idea. As stated earlier, how can you remake perfection?

Like many others here I consider 'Das Boot' to be one of the best films/TV series ever made about WWII. It simply blows most of the opposition clean out of the water from start to finish.

However, to be fair to the production team in Germany, this is a 'follow-up' series carrying on from where the film ended, and not a 're-make' as such.

True, they are running a huge risk that it will fall flat on its face consideirng the quality of the original yet, I for one will give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they are doing the original film justice.

Fingers crossed that they produce something that enthusiasts are still talking about for years to come as they are with the original.

                  Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

You can be sure it will produced reflecting the "spirit" of todays "good germans": showing evil nazis, some stupid love affairs, the good Resistance, etc. ...

As already stated very well DAS BOOT is one of the best war films ever made IMO.
I hope any new remake or follow- on will be equally as excellent.

Exactly, from a German ww2 point of view many an interesting story could be told prior to the break out of war and their successful military careers.E.G -

I agree, no doubt about it...

There will probably be an SS man still in black uniform with armband strutting around being nasty and kicking puppies to balance the film makers conscience.
