    Call of Duty 2

I've known about this for a couple weeks but couldn't talk about. But Activision will be publishing Call of Duty 2 this fall.

The game will take place in North Africa and Normandy as the British, an undisclosed part you'll play as an American Ranger, and the Soviet part will start at the Battle of Moscow. I have NOT seen gameplay yet but the screens look absolutely amazing. Much better detail (not that the original was lacking), and more use of vehicles. As soon as I hear more I'll let you know.

    Hi Peter,

I take it that it will be a stand-alone program and not an add-on.

I look forward to hearing what graphics engine they will use. The team did a great job with the Q3 engine in the original.

More time gaming online ahead then

    Regards,

    Mark.

My preview is in the current (May 2005) issue of Computer Games. The engine is brand new, and this is a stand alone sequel.

The key is going to be much less linear gameplay. You can flank the enemy rather than merely heading up the street!

Sounds and looks good. I have only just finished "United Offensive" the other week.

              Cheers, Ade.

                          Great!
Is the fysics the same in COD2 as in COD? (I mean, do the dead bodys just fall down to the ground, or is it like half life 2 when they fall depending on how they get hit).

I believe the game has some rag-doll physics (that is what the technology is called), but honestly having seen this in use I think it is over done in games. The simple truth is that bullets do not send people flying backward; if the force hitting the body caused it to go flying, then the force from the gun being fired would have to send the shooter flying as well.

The latest games I've seen are doing more realistic physics, but Half-Life 2 really crossed into cinematic results rather than realistic results.
