I am reading the book now. I am finding the book very interesting as he weaves the history of the Kurland Bridgehead with interviews of Latvians that were there both Soldiers and civilians. Though not an in-depth study of the Kurland battles I recommend the book. In my opinion very well done.

I'm also reading it now. It's quite compelling, and really shows how terribly Latvia suffered during the war. This allows me to overlook the author's somewhat shaky grasp of military history (there was no Swedish Waffen-SS division).

Agree with Marc's comment. You won't find anything well researched on the actual Kurland battles; but the research on what the population of Latvia had to endure is invaluable.
