"The Last Battle" [Stephen Harding] - soon to be made into a motion picture

Not a bad book . . . and soon to be made into a film:

Stephen Harding’s bestselling nonfiction "The Last Battle: When U.S. And German Soldiers Joined Forces In The Waning Hours Of World War II In Europe". The movie will tell the story of what happened when American Capt. Jack Lee and the remains of his tank division were pressed into the assignment of freeing VIP prisoners held captive in Schloss Itter. Lee had to get there before 400 Waffen SS troops, who were sent to exterminate the prisoners. Lee and his tank division team up with a Wehrmacht officer and his men to take on the SS troops.

Just read it--excellent book. Amazing that in the last days of the war a Waffen-SS battalion would be wasted trying to execute some French VIPs-- but such was the mindset of the Third Reich.

Movie should be good (especially if they cut down on the amount of squabbling between the French VIPs--they could go on forever).

Glad you enjoyed it, Chris! I am like you - could make for a great movie, when certain parts have been edited.
