    War Without Garlands

This is not a new book, but it well worth a read.........

War Without Garlands - Operation Barbarossa - 1941/42
    By Robert Kershaw.
    ISBN 0 7110 2734 X

Interspersed with first hand accounts, describing the baking heat and choking dust to the misery of sub-zero tempratures and all the hardship between.
The description of the build-up to the first artillery barrage is so well written you can feel the tension........
    Packed full great photo's too.
I would rate this book as a 'must read'.

Yes, it is a good book, but I will have to disagree with the Must Read part (sorry).
There could of been more first person accounts from both sides. If you have all the rest of the memoirs out there then this book will be boring. If you are just starting or have nothing on the Eastern Front then this book is for you.
