Awards Documents of the German Cross in Gold

    Gentlemen:

I just received my copy of this book this afternoon and I was very positively surprised about the overall very high quality of this work both physically and in its content.

Even though I'm a little tired lately by endless picture books which show a lot and say very little, I do like this one a lot. No surprise our own Dietrich Maerz wrote the foreword.

All preliminary and formal award documents to the German Cross are shown in colour and natural size. The overall format of the book is big, so even if the formal award documents can not be shown in a true 1:1 scale, they still give you a good realistic feel as if you'd see them in their original format.

Moreover, it must be stated that besides the GC documents, also other award documents including those to the Knight's Cross are shown, in case a particular soldier had been awarded with this and or other awards. Illustrations of the obverse and reverse of the original GC awards, signatures, printing details of the fonts and photos of the soldiers wearing their awards distinguish this book from many other reference books in our hobby.

For me a value addition to my library.

Congratulations to the author for a well produced book and a 'Danke schön!" for taking on a rather niche topic of award documents. Well appreciated.

    Markus
