NEW BOOK ! Fallschirmjäger in CRETE

    Hi all,

Well, my new book FALLSCHIRMJÄGER IN CRETE ( IN ENGLISH) just came out, here in France !

After, six years "Histoire & Collections" signed me again after my popular success "GREEN DEVILS !". The team of H.&C. under the control of Mr. J.-M. Mongin did a wonderful work and I am really happy about it.

The first to be written by a Frenchman who presents the battle through the eyewitness accounts of the German paratroopers and those facing them, the soldiers of the BEF !
On 160 pages, you will find nearly 400 illustrations including private photos, maps, organograms, four biographies around documents, etc...

    Four main chapters :
    - The Greek Campaign & the CREFORCE
    - Operation Merkur and the Preparations
    - The First Wave
    - The Second Wave

Four biographies with WWII documents from my collection :
    - 1 from the 2./LL-Sturm-Rgt. 1
    - 1 from a flight mec of the 4./LLG 1 who towed a glider, etc...
    - 1 from the 3./Fallsch.MG.btl. 7
    - 1 from the 8../FJR 1

For the Ones who already know me; I have my own way of relating to the events of a battle. My aim is only to share accounts as they were told to me ! It is not the first, the last book about this battle and certainly not an academic work (as I am not part of the Game anyway !).

Price is 43.50 EUROS (postage included).
For those who are interested in having a (signed ?) copy (French or English) or information directly from a serious parisian bookstore A.&C. (Armes & Collections, 19, ave de la Republique, F-75011 Paris), please contact Pascal at :

    armecoll@hotmail.com

    or Fax. : 00.33.1.40.21.97.55

What they wrote about my work :

Greg Way (German Fallschirmjäger website) : "It is an amazing piece of work that I have not been able to put down since it came in the post this morning. I am very impressed with it...I have been skipping pages, then going back, almost like a child in a sweet shop. I am positive that this book will be a great success, not only with Fj enthusiasts, but with all with a military appetite."

    K. Eisenfeller (2./FJR 3) : Ganz hervorragend !"

Thank to all for the precious help and my best wishes to those who are working hard on their book !

I am looking forward to it. I loved the Green Devils and can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I have the book. It is, simply, marvellous and a must-have for any library or bookshelf belonging to anyone with even a passing interest in WW2 history. I sit and just gaze at some of the photographs, especially some of the British and Allied ones. A lot of the text comprises veterans' recollections from both sides, veterans with whom Jean-Yves has corresponded, spoken and met over the years, and you really get the feeling of listening to voices from history. There is actually something both evocative and quite haunting about the book, full as it is of these personal memories and photos. And crowning touches like participants' personal papers, including a flugbuch from a JU52 crew member with the entries for glider, para and air-landing operations during Merkur, written in at the time, underscore the human aspect of it all. In fact, it is a very human book, as you will see when you turn its pages.

There'll be an English language edition out fairly soon and I strongly recommend that you get your orders in.
