Hitler 1923 el Putsch de Munich - English language?

    Hello

I am currently interested in the Munich Beer Hall Putsch 1923 and I came across the Spanish language book as per the subject heading written by Carmelo González Clavero. The limited amount of images available online look good.

However, I don't read Spanish so are images worth the purchase price alone (apps £25 GBP in UK) or is the book available in English?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

i suppose that you already know the page that Geof made on the Putsch ?

    http://www.thirdreichruins.com/munich2.htm

A few books exist in English on the subject :

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Hall_Putsch

Gordon, Harold J., Jr. (1972). Hitler and the Beer Hall Putsch. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press (+666 pages, including illustrations)

Dornberg, John (1982). Munich 1923: The Story of Hitler's First Grab for Power. New York: Harper & Row (385 pages, including 8 pages of illustrations)

Thanks for your time to reply.

I've got the Dornberg book and I used the Ruins website when I visited Munich last November. I was just curious about the Spanish book as it looked to have some good illustrations and images that are available.

      Thanks

        Hello Jaz,

oh okay, did you like the Dornberg book ?
I may purchase it too, as it seemed to be a massive work.

The spanish book seemed to be fully illustrated, it is a kind of Osprey booklet isn't it ?

Thanks for the link. That's the limited amount of images from the book that I saw as well. It does look like an Osprey type of format. I was just wondering if any one who doesn't speak Spanish would still consider the book a worthwhile purchase for the images on their own.

I would certainly recommend the book by Dornberg. One of the more detailed books on the subject but limited with pictures/images. I felt that the Spanish title would complement this book.

If this event interests you I can also recommend After the Battle magazine issue #66 that includes an article titled "MUNICH - DER NEUNTE ELFTE" and is in the usual ATB format of then and now pictures of the anniversary parades in Munich.

          Thanks
          Jaz

            Hello Jaz,

thanks for your review of the Dornberg book and for the ATB info, i will keep an eye on them.
Actually i will probably buy "Das Itinerar" which seemed to be a massive work that will be very enjoyable to read...
