You may want to read a book called "Commandant of Auschwitz" published in English by Phoenix Press (ISBN 1-84212-024-7). Rudolf Hoess (this is the way it is spelt in the book) was taken prisoner by the British and was ordered to write his autobiography in the weeks before his trial and execution. Royalties from the book go to the Comite International d'Auschwitz, a charitable organisation set up to help the suvivors. A very interesting read as long as you remember who wrote it.
