Do we need a book* forum? please vote

Could the WAF benefit from a book forum/data base?

Please vote; comments/thoughts are more than welcome.

*Without trying to make the poll too complicated, a book forum could include other types of media such as video games, motion pictures, and televison.

Note this poll does expire in 31 days.

I voted yes, a seperate forum would be ideal.

    my thoughts:

In my opinion I think the WAF would benefit from such a forum/data base on books. I use the term data base for a reason; the WAF is a treasure chest of good information and a central location for books (we ALL own some books) would make searching out this important subject much easier for most if not all of us.

I see NO down side to this idea.

I voted a big YES. Many threads currently exist in various parts of this forum that deal with different books. These get lost amongst other threads. This book forum would make searching and back-referencing much easier. If people wish they could still cross-refer the book thread to a particular medal thread.

I voted YES. If we shall get one, a movie-review (and for the nerds a game-review ) could be included!Cheers,

Why not incporperate it into the collector community forum, is it really worth a dedicated forum ?

Film's, PC/video games, books etc.....is it worth a forum ? It will just be like the model forum where those few participate only surely. I think it would have a limited spasmodic response in all honesty.

I'd participate sure, but on a regular basis I'd doubt it (thats just me though), I've some books I'd say were worth reading...but a forum alone for such, I'm really not to sure about that.

I thought Seba was already aware of this proposal and it was in the 'possible' pipe line ?

              My vote is YAY !

Something to separate the wheat from the chaff would be beneficial.

My vote is a definate yes. I read at least a book a week and am always looking for new ones. I'd love to have one place were people could post reviews of the books they are reading. Helps us all find those great reads and avoid the lemons.

Patience my friends... this is one of several more forums that'll be added as soon as we move to the new server (this week). Others? Well, they were all requested.

                    Book fourm GREAT IDEA!!!

                    Hello All:

I think that a Book fourm is a fantastic idea, as a new member I keep hearing to check references, check references, that can be hard to do if you don't know what those references are.

I have had very good luck though, in my posts on book references. I think however that if there was a main forum to consult that would be easier for every one. It also might be an area where you could post questions as to the value of a period book or publication. I know that there are some here "myself included" who also have an interest in period publications and books from the Theird Reich.

                    Just my own thoughts:

Think about how many "reference" books that we spent our hard earned money on when we were new collectors,.....only to find out later they were very lacking on info? Not only could new books be critiquied, classics be discussed, info shared, but it might allow new comers to ask opinions on these materials as well.

Now incorperate film and different media......welll. How many documentries, war films, history channel shows do I own...that alone needs a forum .

I really don't think it would turn into an inclusive crowd. We got how many members?!!! Nothing ventured ........................

I like the idea of a Book Forum..I also like the fact that we have a Model Forum, i think that the Model Forum inspires the creativity of fellow members and it is an inpiration to me as a model builder....Try it you'll like it!...

                          Hey Andy,

I used to make a lot of models, 1:35 tanks etc and 1:72 & 1:43 aircraft...I made one oohh about a year ago now it must be.

I don't get the time anymore but I do collect the Corgi metal 1:72 aircraft 'Aviation Archive' collectors models.

                          One day again maybe.

Firstly, my thanks to Seba for starting this new forum, I too think it will be a great success with everyone, as already mentioned, the money wasted in the early days on books that would on be only fit for starting the fire, the books you have either heard about or only seen on a website with no proper review so you've kept your money in your pocket. Well with all the book worms here I am sure everyone will benefit from the forum.
                            Regards
                            Si

Thanks Sebastion, and all who voted yes for a book forum..........

There must be thousands of books covering all aspects of the Third Reich, most of which are excellent, but there are some 'dogs' out there..........

It is always a great help to get a or before parting with any cash.......

                              Thanks to all,
                              Steve.
