The film´s title is 1944- I saw it yesterday in German. The director really wanted to make an authentic film- no `gung ho´ cowboy stuff like the Brad Pitt film. Breaking a European taboo depicting a Waffen ss unit as humans made it interesting and subtly shwing the horrors of Soviet rule. The story is more than just war- but having said that it looks more like war than most Hollywood´s special effects show. It shows that no matter on which side you were- it was always the receiving end of the stick, being used and abused. I liked the film in its humble way of telling the story and letting the actors affect by gestures and glances that were far more telling than heroic monologues or unrealistic stunts.

Has there been any talk as to when there will be further releases? Or, when it will be out on DVD? I have wanted to see this, but has not been available everywhere yet.

Am going to list it on the E-Stand when I get a chance.
