    Rsi I.d. Book

Hi, For those interested here is a RSI Alpine Art. Soldiers I.D. book. issued Feb 9,1944
The bookis in German and Italian and Corrado Giovanelli was member of the MonteRosa ALPINI Division which was trained in Germany and wore the German Edelweiss on their mountain slouch hats. He was issued a 98K in 7.9 and a pistol. The Monte Rosa Division saw action against American Troops late in the war in Northern Italy. He was killed in action after he rose to the rank of Sgt. on April 6,1945 in Caraco Ge. as a member of Divisione MonteRosa 1st Rgt. Btg Aosta

I found his KIA information on a RSI Website dedicated to veterans of the Italian Social Republic Regards Dennis

                          RSI Documents

For those interested in identity documents from the RSI, there is an article in the spring issue 2004 of Rodger Bender's "The Military Advisor" showing numerous pieces including a Personalausweis like this one.
