Can anyone recommend some good books...

concerning the k98 rifle or other such weapons of the German miltary? I'm looking for technical info along with info on restoration, collecting and identification. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Pick up a copy of Richard Laws book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht", this is basically the "bible" for the K98, there are two volumes, the first volume deals with your standard 98's, volume 2 is sniper variations. Also, try this website:
    http://p198.ezboard.com/bk98kpage

and another one if you are interested in the G43 (although there is some K98 discussion here as well):

    www.glockandload.com

    Hope this helps, Chris.

Go to gunboards.com for their discussion forum on Mausers-tons of info and suggestions there..., most people go with Coles, FAC or Empire Arms for a Russian capture K98 (captured by the Russians and refurbed after the war), cost on one of these is 200-300$, for an original prices go way up, check out auctionarms.com or gunbroker.com for mausers......Chris
