Yes, reminds me somewhat of Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer. He literally went to hell and back, defying all the odds, and managed to survive WWII. Only to be killed in a car accident a few years after the war. RIP

My wife and I went to see this film on Saturday.The theatre filled every seat.I loved it.Clint Eastwood did a great job with directing this movie.Bradley Cooper was fantastic.I think most of you will enjoy the film.The combat scenes were done real well.I give the film 3.5 stars out of 4.

Just saw the film tonight and agree with the rest of you, it was indeed excellent.
When the film was over the entire theater remained in their seats in silence while watching the credits roll. Very moving and heart felt. This film is definitely worth seeing.

Same can go for Audi Murphy. During the war, he was a one man wrecking crew, self styled terminator and fearless warrior. He survived WWII and even had a movie career after the war. However, he died in a plane crash. Life is terminal.

I am not questioning or pointing out the obvious point that life is finite. Rather, I am pointing out the similarities in that both these individuals (Kyle and Schnaufer) survived countless horrors and defied great odds in surviving during their respective wars, only to be killed in crazy, bizarre and unexpected situations a mere few years after the end of their respective wars.

Audi Murphy survived well after the war. For several decades thereafter, in fact.

Great movie! I heard that movie critics are already complaining that it doesn't follow the prescribed "formulas" for a politically correct patriotic movie.

There is a film review here which is very lazily written by a cliche heavy hack SJW type of a journalist, but it did contain one single interesting observation, which was that in some ways this is a film with 2 audiences. An American audience which will focus on some aspects and a non American audience which will focus on different aspects of the same character and story.

I don't agree entirely with the review but I think it's an interesting observation and there might be some truth to this part ;

In theory, we suspect, it is a complex double-coded operation, designed to play as straight-up heroism for flag-waving US patriots and as a deeply disturbing psychological study for everybody else.

I had the opportunity to see this film about 6 weeks ago on my third attempt as the first two times it was sold out. It was well worth the wait for sure and I must say, it was the first movie I had ever been to see where most of the audience stood and clapped during the credits. I left with a feeling of pride and even a little nationalistic if I can say that here. Sadly no academy award for Mr. Cooper. Great film and a must to see on the big screen.

The guy was a legend, hats off to him, what a sad way to go, such a ****ed up world we live in
