    "A Woman in Berlin"

    Has anyone seen this film?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Woman_in_Berlin_(film)

It was a topic of discussion at a show yesterday and heard it was pretty good, accurate, and thought provoking. I generally like European films as they tend to be more 'food for the brain'......

Iv'e seen it some time ago on DVD and It's currently on Netfilix. Also read part of the autobiography. It has a shocking impact due to such a depressing subject and brutality. Other than based on a tragic plight seemed realistic and excludes most of the normal Hollywood style drama so accurate in that area and worth watching.

At my Mother in-laws house in Germany myself and wife were often invited/visited with the next door neighbors and developed a friendship of whom was a DAK veteran and his wife.
They migrated from Chemnitz after the wall came down. While drinking one night and on the subject of life under the Russians his wife came out and stated without reservation that "all the women were raped there (Chemnitz)."

It was quite a different pill to actually hear it like this and from someone you know. Sad that anyone should have to experience this.

I saw it awhile back and I concur with what Ray posted. I thought it was very good, and worth seeing.

Funny, I had my wife watched it last night as we just saw Fury the previous day.

Definitely worth watching and well done. Unlike Fury, very realistic in capturing the desperation and emotions of all sides (germans and russians).

Had a good couple of minutes on the German desperate defense in the Battle for Berlin.

I think it is free viewing if you have amazon prime.

Compelling movie, and I recommend the book as well.
I always say that "A Woman In Berlin" should be watched back-to-back with "Downfall", as some of the events in both movies were occurring at the same time.
