A Flawed Genius- Field Marshal Walter Model

I just finished this book, I am not sure how I feel about it. Has anyone else read it? I am curious to see what you guys think. I think he is a little hard on Model at times, obviously his record of being difficult to work with is well documented, but the author contradicts himself in some ways. He is very critical of Von Manstein at several points calling him incompetent. Please share your thoughts!!!!

I read it about a year ago, and was underwhelmed. The author seemed to have an agenda that often overwhelmed the narrative of what is purported to be a biography.
I would NOT reccommend this book as a worthwhile Model biography.

I agree, agenda is a good way to put it, he almost seemed distracted by by having to prove his thesis so hard. Any books on Model you would recommend? The only other one I have seen was a pink one, Hitlers Commander maybe???

NEVER read a book by Marcel Stein. He has a very obvious agenda, and is not fair in his approach to history. THE best book on Model, and along with Mungo Melvin's Manstein biography, is the best biography on a German commander I have ever read is Newton's "Hitler's Commander." It is fair, impartial, and professional. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Reading the review of the Marcel Stein book here:

by a guy called R. A Forczyk, completely tears this to shreds. Going by that review Marcel Stein would be a writer to avoid.

R.A Forczyk (Bob Forczyk) is one of the best Ostfront historians. His Osprey titles are by far the best in the series. His book about the Crimean campaigns, called "Where the Iron Crosses Grow", is due out soon.
