Read the reviews on Amazon. Must be a horrible read.

    Charles Messanger's book is great.

But wait another two years for a new book on Sepp Dietrich to come out.
That new one will be surpass everything you've read/seen on Dietrich.

    Cheers!

Depends on what you're after. I wrote it and would always recommend scanning through a copy before you buy - any review can be very subjective.

I have personally bought some pricey and seemingly great books, based on other people's reviews and some of them have turned out to be junk.

The book is about the 3. Kompanie only, so very, very specific. It was done with the help of surviving 3. Kompanie veterans and managed to track down people that had served in that Kompanie is almost every campaign. Therefore, not re-hashed history, but actual first person recollections within the framework of the actions of the LAH.

Was my first book written 10 years ago and have learnt a lot since then, but the veteran accounts are great and add detail to some of the key battles fought by the LAH during the war, from the men 'on the ground'.

if that sounds interesting, then worth buying. If not what you're after, then best to give it a wide berth.

      Regards
      Peter

Just to add to Markus' comments, this is NOT a book on Sepp Dietrich. I had a similar title in mind, but Schiffer made the final call. Was originally titled 'Dietrich's Boys', due to the remark that he made to his Officers when going into battle, about looking after 'his boys'.

Guess Schiffer did not like that angle and changed it. If you are seeking a book on Dietrich alone, this is not the book for you.

I think they are talking about the new book "Dietrich's Boys" by Ready, not about Peter Mooney's excellent book "Dietrich's Warriors." I own all of Mooney's books and this is one of the better ones.

              Correct, there's a mix-up in titles.
I did not refer to Peter Mooney's much appreciated work on the 3./LAH, but on the other one.

Until now, Charles Messenger's book is still the best work available on Josef Dietrich IMO.

              Regards from Long Beach!

IMO this book subject has been done to death. I'll pass on any new reference. Tom
